Important information for buyers of krill oil

An independent market survey (2024) shows: Not every product sold as “krill oil” actually contains krill oil. A total of 39 omega-3 products from different source categories were tested – including cod liver oil, salmon oil, seal oil and krill oil. Of 15 krill oil products tested, 6 products (40 %) contained no krill oil or were diluted with vegetable oils or cheap fish oil ethyl esters.

Overall, the fraud rate across all omega-3 categories was 36%. The reason: high-quality raw materials such as krill oil are expensive – and therefore susceptible to economically motivated adulteration. This makes it all the more important to pay attention to verifiable origin, independent test procedures, certifications and genuine product transparency to ensure that you are really getting the product you are paying for. Pure krill oil provides valuable natural by-products such as astaxanthin, phospholipids and choline, which are often missing in stretched or counterfeit products.

Good news: Our Krill Vida contains 100% pure krill oil

Krill Vida was also tested as part of the same investigation – with a clear result: Krill Vida contains 100 % pure krill oil and fully corresponds to the stated origin and composition. Quality is our top priority. We therefore have our raw materials and end products regularly tested by independent laboratories. This is how we ensure that our products meet the highest purity and quality standards and are free from harmful substances. We are happy to disclose the results. In this way, we make our top quality transparent and comprehensible for you.

Advantages of Krill Vida

  • Natural, pure product with essential omega-3 fatty acids and valuable accompanying substances (astaxanthin, phospholipids and choline)
  • Traceability of each batch back to the exact fishing location in the Antarctic
  • Gentle processing directly on the ship, which ensures quality and freshness

Sustainability and responsibility

The krill in Krill Vida comes from sustainable and strictly controlled catches:

  • The catch is made in accordance with the strict principles of CAMLR, the organization responsible for sustainable krill fishing in the Antarctic
  • Catch data is transmitted daily by satellite to the authorities and the CAMLR
  • Krill fishing only takes place in a small, clearly defined area
  • The catch quota is only 1 % of the total biomass – by comparison, 10 % is considered sustainable for fishing
  • We know where the krill contained in every single capsule was fished. This traceability guarantees maximum transparency and sustainability. Simply enter the batch number from the bottom of the can on this website

Consideration for marine mammals and ecosystems:

  • The catch only takes place in those months in which, for example, whales have finished rearing their young and no longer stay exclusively in Antarctic waters.
  • No trawls are used – the seabed remains untouched and bycatch is avoided.
