EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) are particularly important omega-3 fatty acids: they support heart health, regulate inflammation and are important for the normal function of the brain and eyesight. DHA plays a particularly important role in the structure of brain and nerve cells.
EPA and DHA occur naturally in microalgae in particular and accumulate in fish via the food chain. Oily fish such as mackerel, herring, sardines or Atlantic salmon are therefore a well-known source of these fatty acids. Algae are a plant-based source of DHA and EPA and are particularly interesting for people who do not eat fish.
ALA (alpha-linolenic acid), also an essential omega-3 fatty acid, is found in plant-based foods such as nuts, seeds and vegetable oils (e.g. linseed oil). Some vegetables and soy also contain small amounts of it. However, the body can only convert ALA into EPA and DHA to a limited extent.
In our range you will find three products with different sources of essential fatty acids:
Our fish oil in Omega-3 Vida comes from sustainable fishing in Norway and has a particularly high content of omega-3 fatty acids. Per 10 ml (1 tablespoon) it contains 1150 mg EPA and 1000 mg DHA, a total of 2750 mg omega-3 fatty acids.
The oil is bottled without oxygen, which ensures a high level of freshness (TOTOX value < 4) and a shelf life of 36 months without preservatives. It is tasteless, refined with natural lemon flavor and therefore also suitable for children. It is also enriched with astaxanthin-rich oleoresin from the microalgae Haematococcus pluvialis.
The product is cleaned and tested for harmful substances such as heavy metals, dioxins and PCBs and meets strict quality and environmental standards.
The krill oil in Krill Vida is extracted from Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba). It contains remarkable amounts of the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA.
With an estimated 300 to 500 million tons of biomass, krill is probably the most common animal species in the world. A maximum of 620,000 tons may be fished annually. This corresponds to 0.2% of the stocks. This is an extremely sustainable fishing quota.
Nevertheless, kingnature takes the concerns of nature conservation organizations seriously. It is problematic that krill fishing is concentrated in a small marine area after an agreement that aimed to improve the distribution of krill fishing expired in 2024. kingnature therefore supports all efforts by the CCAMLR (Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources) to reintroduce regional catch limits.
We source our krill oil from a reliable supplier who actively supports the much more far-reaching plan to protect 70% of the krill fishing area around the Antarctic Peninsula as a nature reserve.
Our vegan alternative Omega-3 Vegan contains microalgae and the plant field stone seed.
Algae are a valuable plant source of omega-3 fatty acids, especially the microalgae Schizochytrium sp., which produces both EPA and, above all, DHA. These tiny single-celled organisms, which are only visible under a microscope, are cultivated in salt water. The resulting oil is produced by physical extraction without solvents and further processed in Switzerland.
Omega-3 Vegan will switch to a new manufacturer in summer 2026, as the algae oil previously used will no longer be produced, but you as a consumer will not notice this.
Another plant-based source of omega-3 in Omega-3 Vegan is the plant called Buglossoides arvensis. Its seeds contain the omega-3 fatty acid SDA (stearidonic acid), which the body can partially convert into EPA and DHA. The oil comes from non-genetically modified plants (GMO-free).
Omega-3 Vegan has a fine note of natural vanilla & tropical flavor.
