Nicotinamide Riboside – Energy at the Cellular Level

Nicotinamide riboside (NR) is a specific form of vitamin B3 and a member of the B-vitamin family. It is a precursor to NAD⁺, a coenzyme that plays a crucial role in the respiratory chain and its sophisticated energy production process.

NR is the main ingredient in Mitoflow Vida, which is designed to support energy metabolism. One Mitoflow Vida capsule contains 300 mg of NR. This is equivalent to 126 mg of niacin (= vitamin B3).

Help—what’s with all this nicotine??

The term “niacin” (vitamin B3) refers collectively to nicotinic acid, nicotinamide, and nicotinamide riboside. What does all this have to do with nicotine? Very little, if anything. Although nicotinic acid and nicotinamide are historically related to nicotine due to their names and chemically related in terms of their structure, they are not physiologically related. Their physiological function or effect in the body is completely different.

Ergothioneine – a standout ingredient in Mitoflow Vida

Ergothioneine (EGT) is a naturally occurring substance found in various foods, such as mushrooms. It is a sulfur-containing amino acid derivative that is typically concentrated in the liver and brain. During energy production in cells, reactive oxygen species (ROS, or so-called free radicals) can form, subjecting cellular structures to oxidative stress. It is important to help protect cells from this oxidative stress, as riboflavin—found in Mitoflow Vida—does, for example.

As a typical redox-active compound, EGT is an important component of Mitoflow Vida. One Mitoflow Vida capsule contains 20 mg of EGT.
